What I Do

Three calls that keep your water — and your compliance — where it should be.

Most common

Annual Backflow Testing

Required every year by most localities and water authorities for irrigation systems and commercial connections. I test your assembly, complete the paperwork, and file it with your city or county — so it's off your list.

Common parts on hand

Backflow Repair

Failed a test, or noticed a leaking or stuck assembly? I keep a handful of common repair parts on hand, so straightforward fixes are often finished the same visit. If yours needs something less common, I'll track down the part and get back out quickly.

When it's needed

Installation & Replacement

Testing and repair are most of what I do, but if a device is past saving or you're putting in a new irrigation system, I can also size, install, and test a replacement — then register it with your water authority.

Where I Work

Home base is Lynchburg. Licensed for the whole Commonwealth.

I keep most jobs within about 45 minutes to an hour of Lynchburg, so I can usually get to your property fast — often the same week, sometimes the same day.

My Virginia backflow tester license isn't limited to that radius, though. For a larger commercial or municipal job further out, just ask — I'm happy to travel.

Questions

Backflow testing, answered plainly.

What is backflow testing, and why is it required?

A backflow prevention assembly keeps water from flowing backward into the public water supply — for example, from an irrigation system, or a commercial building's internal plumbing. Testing confirms the assembly is still sealing properly. Most Virginia localities and water authorities require an annual test on these devices to protect drinking water for everyone on the system, and typically won't accept a device that hasn't been tested and reported on schedule.

How often does my backflow device need to be tested?

Annually, in most cases — that's the standard most Virginia water authorities and localities follow. Some commercial or higher-hazard connections may be tested more often. Your water authority or the notice you received is the most reliable source for your specific requirement; if you're not sure, send me a photo of any notice you got and I can help sort it out.

How much does a backflow test cost?

It depends on the number of devices, their size, and your location. I quote pricing upfront before scheduling, so there's no surprise when I show up — call, text, or use the form below and I'll get you a number.

Who is required to have a backflow device tested?

Generally, any property with a backflow prevention assembly installed on its water connection — most commonly properties with irrigation systems, commercial buildings, restaurants, and some multi-family properties. If your property already has a device installed, your local water authority almost certainly requires annual testing and reporting on it.

What happens if I miss my testing deadline?

It varies by locality, but a missed or overdue test commonly leads to a past-due notice, and in some cases a water authority can restrict or shut off service until a passing test is filed. If you've already gotten a notice, that's the most common reason people call — it's usually a quick fix to get back in compliance.
